The team of FM GROUP INC and SJC Masonry won 3rd Place and received a special special recognition award of "Most Clever" for their design-build entry in the Arizona Masonry Guild's (AMG)5th Annual "Masonry: It Takes a Village" competition. FM/SJC's entry was inspired by the numerous infill projects taking place in the Phoenix Metro Area; thus, preserving the Phoenix "village".

"Every village has a history. People who founded the village built homes, churches, stores and offices... Over the years, the village grew and changed as its people did. Change is inevitable. But that need for change brought the difficult question - what should be kept intact and what should be torn down? It's never an easy question for anyone in the village... When that decision is made, a crane is called into action. With great care and precision the wrecking ball does what is necessary..." Excerpt from the FM/SJC Team story board.

The FM/SJC entry featured a masonry wrecking crane that swiveled the 75 lbs. wrecking ball toward a worn down building. The entry was dedicated to Ray Chaudoin, friend and father to the SJC masons.

FM/SJC was one of eight entrants in the AMG's annual competition. The competition teams an architecture firm with a masonry contractor for a 1-1/2 day build. This year's competition was held at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, AZ.

FM GROUP INC's Environmental Division was awarded a contract to perform on-call asbestos and lead-based paint environmental consulting services. This contact is available for use of all State of Arizona departments, agencies, commissions and boards. As well, this contract is available for use by all universities, and political subdivisions that participate in the State's cooperative purchasing agreement.
